A different Birthday: 5 days spent in one of the most beautiful cities of Europe with my camera, a backpack and a great desire to discover. Enjoy the reading

29.10.2018

"Welcome"

Here we are!
Despite my attempt to lose in all possible ways the bus to Bergamo I managed to take my Ryanair flight to Stansted.
The excitement combined with the immense desire that I had to revisit this city have meant that the fatigue accumulated in the previous days slipped away like nothing.
To host, help and guide me in this beautiful week there was her: Viviana, a friend of high school days now on a permanent basis in GB.

"Let’s start"

The good morning could not be better: wake up at 8.30 and, after a nice breakfast from "Husk Coffe & Creative Space" I start my adventure: from Limehouse I head, passing through the Riverside, towards central London. I met Henry Coleman, a London Street Photographer with whom, after having entertained in a pleasant conversation on the plus and minus of photography, we exchange our contacts: it could not have a better start! After having "scoured" the length and breadth of central London I decide to go home, my feets claim to rest: my pedometer recites about 26km!

"Mother’s day"

Wake up, greetings to mum (it was her birthday) and then away: backpacking, today I decide to start my day in the most modern and particular area of London: Canary Wharf, the real modern district of London.
After losing myself, like a child at the playground, in the meanderings of Canary Wharf I decide to go towards the center where, passing in sequence from the Southwark Bridge-St Paul Church and finally Soho, I conclude my day.

"November’s come and has started raining"

It seems like a joke but I had to wait 3 days to see the first drops of water settle on London, the day begins with a "Full English Breakfast" prepared by Rossella, the adorable roommate of Viviana with whom I shared these days in London.
I move to the center by walking from Southwark Bridge where, after taking a couple of shots, I meet another friend: Simone, a boy from my area who works nearby.
After a short tour, the "lightest" day of my stay in London ends: few places seen but so much company.

"Bye Bye 27"

2nd November has always been a busy day for me: the last day of "youth" and one day to remind me my dears that no longer exists.
I decide to visit Camden Town (one obligatory stop for who visits London) and, after a nice tour with a sandwich, a nice "actor" and stalls full of every possible and imaginable object, I move to Soho before returning to home for dine (with its "Birthday pumpkin" at midnight prepared by Viviana and Laura).

"+1"

After waking up later for the celebrations of the day before, I decide to go out in the afternoon with Viviana and Joseph (a friend of Vivi) and we moved to Pad Strett: a place made under a viaduct full of Murals.
After getting lost in the murals, really many and valuable, I decide to continue my journey on the Riverside where, after taking a pair of shots, I decide to return home.
How heavy are these 28 years!

04.11
"Collapse"

I start to feel the weight of the kms and the last two evenings, decidedly festive, so I decide to spend the day at home to consult my photographic works and study a way to make the most of the afternoon and the last day in London. After some shoot in the afternoon, interspersed with a beer in Soho, my day ends at home where (for the umpteenth time) we do late with Viviana’s roommates.

"At last but not at least"

Last day in London, the desire to do and the "counted hours" mean that the first part of the day, passed between the Center and a return to Camden, is characterized more by a kind of despair that a desire to exploit the remaining time.
London is so beautiful, any glimpse or person transmit dynamism, desire to do and frenzy.. detach me, never like this time, it is so hard. I end my evening by dedicating myself to the Lightpainting on the Riverside and then returning home for the last time.

06.11
"It’s over"

Maybe for a bit of sadness that I had in my body, maybe for the time of my flight (08.05 am) and maybe for write the report of this wonderful experience, but I could not close my eyes this night.
At 5 am I take the bus to Stansted where, arrived a couple of hours earlier, then I will take the flight that will bring me back to "home". Yeah, because during what was supposed to be a week of vacation I’ve never felt far away or in a place foreign to me. My friend, her roommates, the people I saw and met made this trip unforgettable and intense.
My dedications for this photo-story goes to Viviana, Laura, Rossella, Ivan, Paul, Henry.. to all those I met, to those who followed me at a distance and especially to my family and those who look at me from "up".

"I’ll be back"
